Many hospital facilities and equipment are in poor condition. A considerable number of hospital beds are damaged, with an estimated average of only about 15% being fully functional per ward. This severely impacts patient comfort and capacity. Critical diagnostic results, including CT scans, radiographic imaging, and MRI reports, are often delayed, which can hinder prompt emergency response and treatment decisions. There is also a noticeable shortage of pharmaceutical supplies across wards, including basic necessities such as detergents and tissues. The general environment in several wards appears dusty and poorly maintained, giving an impression of neglect. On a positive note, the doctors and nurses are calm, professional, and dedicated in their interactions with patients. However, there seems to be a lack of coordination and synchronization among the healthcare teams. Overall, the hospital reflects significant systemic challenges that require urgent attention and improvement.

Precious U. ★★★★★ : I am very disappointed with my experience at Niger Hospital. My sister visited the hospital for a skin condition and paid the consultation fee on the first day without any issue. She was given instructions by the doctor and asked to return the next day. However, when we came back as instructed to see the same doctor, we were told at reception that we had to pay another consultation fee — and even a higher one. This was very confusing and frustrating, as the doctor himself asked us to return. What made the experience worse was the attitude of the reception staff. They were quite rude and condescending when we asked for clarification, simply stating that it was “hospital policy” without any proper explanation. It is unreasonable that patients are required to pay a full consultation fee every single time they return to see the same doctor for follow-up visits, especially when those visits are requested by the doctor. We have now had to keep paying repeatedly just to continue the same course of treatment. This policy feels exploitative and discouraging, especially for patients who need ongoing care. I hope the hospital reviews this system and improves both its billing transparency and customer service.

Imagine I called the hospital line to make inquiries on whether they have a diagnostic section, and if they do MRI, if you hear what that woman said to me you will fire her at the spot, she asked me what an MRI is and asked me to tell her the full meaning of MRI, even before that she asked me if my legs were broken that I couldn’t come to the hospital myself. Please Enugu state Government should treat this as a matter of urgency and seriously too because if not they will do more than this and sure ruin the hospital before it even start. Thank you

The doctor and members of staff were consistently attentive, they took time to explain things clearly, answered our questions without rushing, and made us feel genuinely looked after throughout our visits. It was clear the staff cared about both the medical and emotional side of maternal care, which made a real difference. Overall, we'd recommend this facility to other expecting couples, especially for the level of attentiveness and care from the staff.

bonny P. ★★★★★ : This hospital has gone downhill drastically compared to three years ago. The staff show zero humanity—doctors appear clueless, nurses are careless, and emergencies are not treated with urgency. At night, they even close the gates and pretend to sleep to avoid patients. Their only “solution” for every issue is to push for a CT scan, which feels negligent and exploitative. This used to be a decent hospital, but now it is the worst in Enugu. ⚠️ Advice for future patients: Avoid this hospital for emergencies—seek alternative facilities in Enugu that can provide real care. Do not rely on them at night; they are unresponsive. Be cautious of unnecessary CT scan recommendations. Management must take responsibility and restore proper standards of care. Patients deserve better.
Ody O. ★★★★★ : I don't know what acute care this hospital specialises in but if you have a life threatening condition please don't go there and don't take your loved ones there. They might have a a great mission and vision but the actual implementation is terrible. A hospital that couldn't spot a deteriorating 36 Yr old lady under their care. Walked in there by herself and was carried out on stretcher, she was moved half alive because I was literally arguing with the doctor over the phone on the need to send her for a CT head, because I spotted neurological deviations on video call. If I didn't insist, she wouldn't have been referred to memphys. If I write the things that happened within the 2 weeks she was in and out of POSH and Niger foundation, just trying to get the best around, this page will not be enough. I think we need to do better. Let me just leave it for now.

From the moment I arrived, it felt less like a place focused on patient care and more like a business trying to squeeze as much money as possible out of people who are already vulnerable. Every step of the process came with another unexpected charge, making it feel like I was being taken advantage of rather than helped. Transparency was completely lacking. On top of that, the waiting times were outrageous. We were charged extra money to get the results of our investigation. Overall, the experience was stressful, time-consuming, and unnecessarily expensive.I would strongly advise others to be cautious and ask detailed questions before agreeing to anything here.
