Terms of Use

1. Who you’re agreeing with

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Ranked Technologies Ltd, a company incorporated in the Federal Republic of Nigeria (“Ranked”, “we”, “our”). By accessing or using ranked.ng (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

2. What the Service is

Ranked is an independent directory of Nigerian businesses. Listings, rankings, sentiment scores, and editorial content are provided for informational purposes. We are not affiliated with and do not endorse any listed business unless explicitly stated.

2a. Ranked is a discovery platform, not a party to your transaction

Ranked helps you find businesses. It does not sell, supply, deliver, guarantee, insure, or take payment for anything those businesses provide. Any order, booking, quote, contract, deposit, or payment you make with a listed business is strictly between you and that business.Ranked is not the seller, not the service provider, not an agent, not a broker, not an escrow, and not a guarantor, and earns nothing from your transaction with them.

It follows that Ranked is not responsible for, and accepts no liability arising from: the quality, safety, legality, or timeliness of any goods or services; the accuracy of prices a business quotes you; non-delivery, defective work, damage, injury, or loss; refunds, returns, warranties, or guarantees; a business closing, moving, or not answering; or any deposit or payment you make to a business that it fails to honour. Contact details we publish are for your convenience and are not an introduction, recommendation, or warranty that a business is solvent, licensed, or trustworthy.

Do your own checks before you pay anyone. Confirm who you are dealing with, ask for a written quote and receipt, verify any licence or registration with the relevant Nigerian authority, and be especially careful with advance payments and transfers to personal accounts. Nothing on Ranked — including a ranking position, a review, a sentiment score, or a “Ranked Verified” badge — is a guarantee about a business, a substitute for your own due diligence, or professional advice.

If a dispute arises with a business, it must be resolved directly with that business. Ranked has no authority to compel a business to refund you, complete work, or respond, and cannot act as arbitrator between you. We will, on request, correct or remove inaccurate listing information, pass on a documented complaint where we hold a working contact, and cooperate with a lawful request from a competent Nigerian authority. Consumer complaints are not published as reviews. For redress you may contact the business directly, your bank or payment provider, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), or a court of competent jurisdiction. Reporting a business to us is not, and does not substitute for, any of those steps.

A paid listing, Featured placement, or Sponsored Category changes nothing above. Advertising is a labelled placement only. It is never an endorsement, never a vouch for the advertiser, and never buys ranking position or the verified badge.

3. Permitted use

You may browse, link to, and share the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may quote short excerpts (fewer than 25 words) with attribution and a link back to the source page.

4. Prohibited use

You must not:

  • Scrape, crawl, mirror, or systematically copy any portion of the Service without prior written permission;
  • Use the Service or any data drawn from it to build a competing directory, database, or AI training corpus;
  • Republish rankings, scores, badges, or sentiment outputs without our written licence;
  • Submit false, misleading, or impersonating business or review content;
  • Attempt to manipulate rankings via fake reviews, click farms, or other artificial signals;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code, models, or scoring algorithms;
  • Interfere with the Service’s operation (rate-limit evasion, denial-of-service, exploiting vulnerabilities).

We will pursue commercial users of scraped content under Nigerian copyright and database rights law and the equivalent statutes in any jurisdiction where you operate.

5. User-submitted content

When you submit a listing, claim, report, or review, you represent that the content is accurate, lawful, and submitted with proper authority. You grant Ranked Technologies Ltd a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to display, store, aggregate, and moderate that content for the operation of the Service. You retain ownership of your content. We can remove any submission that violates these Terms or applicable law.

By submitting a first-party review, you confirm that the experience described is your own genuine experience, you are not paid by the business, and you accept the display of your chosen name, rating, and review text on the Service indefinitely (subject to your right to request deletion — see our Privacy Policy).

6. Business owners and claims

If you claim ownership of a listed business, you represent that you have authority to do so. We may require proof (business registration, domain ownership, or other reasonable evidence) before linking the claim to a verified status. Claim approval does not entitle you to remove a listing, suppress third-party reviews, or alter the algorithmic ranking; it does enable you to update factual business details and respond to reviews where the response surface is enabled.

7. Information accuracy — no warranty

Business information is provided “as is.” We source listings from public APIs (Google Places), open data, regulator publications, and user submissions, and we use commercially reasonable efforts to keep entries fresh. We do not warrant that any specific data point (hours, contact details, prices, status) is current, complete, or accurate at any moment. You should always confirm critical details (operating hours, location, fees, regulatory status) directly with the business before acting on them.

8. Independent rankings

Rankings on Ranked are computed by an algorithm we maintain. We do not accept payment to alter ranking positions. Featured placements are clearly labelled when they appear. Editorial selections (Editor’s Pick, Today’s Spotlight) are independently chosen and labelled as editorial.

9. Advertising

The Service displays advertising via Google AdSense. Ads are delivered by Google based on Google’s own policies. Inclusion of an ad does not imply our endorsement of the advertiser. Click outcomes are between you and the advertiser.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Ranked Technologies Ltd and its directors, employees, and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service, including any commercial loss, lost profits, lost data, or damage to reputation. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at the amount you have paid us in the prior twelve months (which, for non-advertising users, is ₦0).

11. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold Ranked Technologies Ltd harmless from any third-party claim arising out of your content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms or applicable law. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply (including Sections 5, 7, 10, 11, and 13).

13. Governing law & venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos, Nigeria, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws require otherwise.

14. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

We respect intellectual-property rights. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, please email a notice to [email protected] containing:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (a URL or a description sufficient to locate it).
  2. Identification of the material on the Service that is allegedly infringing — please provide the exact URL on ranked.ng.
  3. Your contact information (full legal name, postal address, telephone number, and email).
  4. A statement made under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith that use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

On receipt of a complete notice we will review and, if warranted, remove or disable access to the material and notify the user who posted it. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated. For counter-notices or questions about a takedown decision, reply to the same email thread within ten (10) business days.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The “Effective” date will move forward and the homepage will carry a notice for at least 14 days before any material change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
