A beautifully designed recreation area adjacent to the Lionbuilding Police Station is available for individual or family picnics and other relaxing activities. • Sarzi M. ★★★★ : It’s a nice space that houses a couple of things you might find interesting. They have a restaurant, a book store, a mini art gallery, a space for stage plays. Came here to see a stage play and before it started I tried the restaurant. I didn’t have a proper meal as I wasn’t hungry. Had their ram suya and a mocktail, and to be honest It was just okay. The drinks can be better. The ambience of the restaurant had a rustic feel to it and i think it’s was pretty cool. Enjoyed the play and would not mind coming back for another experience.

    • FSL ★★★★★ : Gurara Falls is such a beautiful space to visit and truly commune with nature. It’s one of those places that reminds you just how much this country has to offer, if only our leaders fully tapped into the incredible tourism potential sitting right in front of us. The waterfalls are undeniably stunning. Located about two hours outside Abuja, my girls and I made a day-trip picnic out of it. Pro tip: set out very early so you can beat the traffic. Once you arrive, guides are available to assist you. Ours were amazing, they carried our picnic items to and from our chosen spot. One stayed behind with our things while the other two led our party of five on one of the best hikes I’ve done in a while. We hiked up the waterfall back to the parking lot then returned to our picnic site. It’s not an easy hike, so come prepared (a bottle of water is essential), but the views and the experience are absolutely worth it. Afterward, we had the most relaxing time by the water, eating, kiki-ing, and even napping. Because we went before the rainy season when the water levels were lower, some of us were able to swim. By 5pm, we were on our way back to Abuja and everyone was home by 8pm, perfect timing for a wholesome day trip. A few practical notes: the gate fee is ₦2,000 per person. You’re expected to tip your guides, and considering how hospitable, attentive, and kind they are, please be generous within your means. There are also drinks sold on-site if you’d like to support the local economy, which is always encouraged. All in all, Gurara Falls is a refreshing, grounding escape and a reminder of Nigeria’s untapped natural beauty.

    • Kevin ★★★★★ : Very special experience, to learn about slavery from an african perspective. Standing on the point of no return, knowing what happend here for centuries is thrilling.
    • Adewunmi M. ★★★★★ : The Badagry Slave Museum is a deeply moving historical site that offers a powerful insight into the transatlantic slave trade in Nigeria. Walking through the museum, you are taken back in time as you learn about the brutal realities of slavery, the lives that were torn apart, and the resilience of those who endured it. The exhibits, artifacts, and stories shared help preserve an important part of history and ensure that it is never forgotten. The site serves not just as a museum, but as a place of reflection and education, reminding visitors of the sacrifices, pain, and strength of our ancestors. Visiting the Badagry Slave Museum was an eye-opening and humbling experience that deepened my understanding of Nigeria’s history and the global impact of the slave trade. It is an important place for learning, remembrance, and honoring the past.

Previous home of the Nigerian social rights and anti corruption activist and musician named Fela Kuti and his family. There is plenty of art and family photos. There are also rooms to stay if you want to book like a hotel.
