Review analysis
Serene location away from city bustle with clean swimming pool.
Prisca W★★★★★ — The rooms are spacious and clean. If, like me, you're wary of picking up bedbugs from hotels and this is one of your considerations when choosing where to stay, then the Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar is an excellent option.
The bedding was clean and fresh, the mattress seam, bed frame, headboard and furniture, clean and free from bugs. Yes, I took my time to check🙈
The hotel has visible security and constant electricity. The bathrooms are clean and fresh towels are provided, for guests who use them.
I highly recommend the Metropolitan❤️

Ime P.★★★★★ — Checked in on 27th November, 2025. The ground-floor room did not feel unsafe, until it revealed that safety here is an illusion. While I was in the bathroom, the POP ceiling collapsed, metal framing and a live electrical cable falling into the exact space where I was about to shower. Survival came down to timing, not design.
At reception, there was a quiet apology. No report. No manager. No refund. Only a relocation.
The next room leaked steadily, drained poorly, and hosted drain flies, water pooling at my feet like a stalled tide. After another complaint, I was moved upstairs, an exercise in displacement rather than resolution.
For a hotel described as recently renovated, the failures feel structural, not accidental. That night I slept fully clothed, lights on, listening to the ceiling as one listens to ice beginning to crack.
Channel View Hotel is not overtly hostile, it is worse than that. It is indifferent.
Staying here is less a booking than a quiet agreement to trust chance over care.
I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to anyone who values basic safety.

Apologize for my previous comment which I dont know how to take it off. Very surprisingly my lost earrings came out from Lagos Oriental hotelmonce I returned Lagos.
I accused your hotel staff and I m deeply sorry for it.
Your hotel was otherwise very fine. Please forgive my big mistake.

Natura G.★★★★★ — I m estonian woman who came to enjoy Calabar, unfortunatly fist night my earrings was stolen from locked room and nobody knew anything! No security and anyone can enter your room
Tunde I.★★★★★ — Staff were not too efficient. The rooms were not too clean. Parking space is limited. The place is small though located in an easily accessible place.
Ms O.★★★★★ — I had come 2 years ago. The food was good. They had an elevator too so I thought staying here was a good idea. It wasn't.
Will A.★★★★★ — Great stay at De Grand Hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff, and quite a lively atmosphere at the bar / pool area. Can be a little noisy so bring earplugs if you want to go to bed early.
Bernadette M.★★★★★ — Hogis king court experience 26 jan 2026
The Hotel is reasonably clean and well secured. Reception staff are generally courteous.
Everything else goes downhill for me:
1. Extremely noisy neighbours at the back - loud music blasting past 10pm.😵
2. Stair climbing all the way - no lifts😒
3. Cockroaches crawling over the room🤔
4. Kitchen calling you past 9-10pm to offer breakfast options 😏
5. Being a guest in the room and paying for food to be warmed in the microwave for 2mins - this was a global first😅
Kitchen staff look the most demotivated lot on the block with a snooby nose in the air plump cashier lady... Couldn't stretch to fridge to clarify drinks available.
6. T. V functionality set in a way only they can manage to change channels. Attempt that at your own peril! :-(
7. Snail coach internet😭
Am just done!
Bukky B.★★★★★ — Tinapa has great potential but it's currently not functional and there's evidence of vandalization.
It's a beautiful place with lush greenery and different sections of activities.
It would be nice if the government can bring it back to life.
Emery★★★★★ — Here are my Pros and Cons from my stay at this hotel
⭐ Pros
- Great Location. This hotel is very close to the airport and you can access most fun spots in the city from this location.

Barr. N.★★★★★ — Beautiful place , great management, neat and budget friendly, highly recommended !!!
Jide O.★★★★★ — Top location, near Cultural Centre. Close to many interesting places: tourism and shopping.
Room decent, but they do not provide a bottle of water in the room, no WiFi, no breakfast. TV was basic with only two clear channels. Standard room is advertised at N25k, a small discount may be possible.
Zila B.★★★★★ — Good evening pls can you send a number that I can reach to the hotel pls thanks because the number you post on your page is not working
dapo F.★★★★★ — The room was nice, but not standard enough for 35k. I needed something close to the airport, so it served its purpose. Spacious compound, clean environment, clean building etc. I was enjoying my sleep until they put on the generator, the generator was virtually at the back of the window.
Diwura C.★★★★★ — I didn't even get the opportunity to go there because plans changed and these people refused to refund claiming no refunds policy that wasn't mentioned before payment was made.
I don't understand why you wouldn't mention that y'all don't refund before taking my money but suddenly remember after taking it. Very rubbish customer service too.
Eagle-Chris★★★★★ — Hotel Boston is a pocket friendly hotel situated in a very serene area at Calabar,
Room rates are very cheap though they need some renovation especially in most of their bathrooms. They also need to upgrade their services as it took almost 3hrs for the kitchen to serve me the food I ordered...
