The problems started with the watch freezing intermittently and becoming unresponsive. It would sporadically work and then fail again, eventually succumbing to ghost touches. There was no physical damage whatsoever that could have caused these issues.
Due to being out of town, I couldn’t immediately send the device to Carlcare. Upon my return, I contacted Oraimo again to confirm if I could still send it in, and they assured me it was within the warranty period. I sent the watch to Carlcare's Victoria Island office, where it was received, and I was told I would be contacted after their inspection.
Barely two hours later, I received a call from a Carlcare agent, who informed me that after an inspection involving "three bosses" (as if to preempt the absurdity of what was to follow), they had determined the issue was a faulty charging port and thus, my warranty was void. At this point, I already suspected I was being toyed with—three superiors to inspect a mere smartwatch?
I asked her to repeat herself, which she did. I then calmly pointed out that I had charged the watch earlier that day to avoid sending it with a low or dead battery. She went silent for a few seconds, likely realizing the flaw in her argument. Then, in a bizarre twist, she changed her tune and claimed the warranty was void because the back of the watch had peeled. I asked her how peeling voids a warranty, especially when just moments before, it was supposedly the charging port that was defective. She couldn’t provide a coherent answer and instead raised her voice, asserting, "Your warranty is void, and that's that."
I was genuinely astonished by the audacity of the situation. For a brand like Carlcare to resort to such transparent and lowbrow tactics to wriggle out of honoring a warranty was beyond unprofessional—it was deceitful.
Afterwards, I reached out to Oraimo to update them, and their response was equally disappointing: "There’s nothing we can do."
I’m sharing this so others can be informed and avoid being subjected to the same disingenuous and dishonest practices.
