Millie I.★★★★★ — My husband and I stayed at Avenue Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had.
From the outside, the hotel looks beautiful and promising. Unfortunately, the inside is the complete opposite. The entire place smells, especially the rooms. The first room we were given was extremely small, outdated, and felt like something straight out of the 1990s. The bathroom was disgusting. Rust everywhere, visible stains and marks on the walls, and an overall feeling of poor hygiene. I have photos and will be attaching them here because words honestly do not do it justice.
We went back to the lobby and requested a room change. They gave us a bigger room, but the condition was no better. The bathtub was rusted, the room smelled bad, the sink was dirty as if it had not been properly cleaned, and the tap was visibly unclean. There was not even a shower curtain, so every time we showered, water flooded the bathroom floor. Showering became something we had to mentally prepare ourselves for because of how unpleasant and uncomfortable it was.
We would have immediately checked out and booked another hotel, but because it was the festive season, everywhere else was fully booked and we had no choice but to stay. Thankfully, we only had to endure it for three nights.
For a hotel charging ₦260,000 per night, this is completely unacceptable. The experience was nowhere near worth the price. It felt like we were being charged luxury prices for conditions that do not meet even basic hospitality standards.
It is now very clear to me why there are no photos of the bathrooms on their website.
The only positive thing I can say is that the staff were professional. Nothing exceptional, but they were polite and tried to be helpful.
Overall, I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere. The appearance is misleading, the hygiene is extremely poor, and the value for money simply does not exist. This was deeply disappointing.
Jennifer Y★★★★★ — Where do I even begin? Please if you're from abroad, don't even think about it. The room was just filthy and the bathrooms were even worse. Said it's renovated but the bathrooms have mold everywhereeeee. You must close your eyes and shower hmmm. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND
Ubong E.★★★★★ — In local palace, we say “No look the body, look the engine” or “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. This hotel is not a 5 star facility but you’ll get more than a decent level of comfort in a functional hotel.
Kudos to the management for the maintenance.
Great value for the price
Modupe I.★★★★★ — Lagos is an expensive town generally so the prize per night is fair. A warm reception, quiet environment, rooms are neat, cleaned everyday, towels changed daily too. A nice place where you can just chill. By the way, there was complimentary breakfast with the limited option of noodles with egg or bread and egg with either tea, coffee or juice.
John A.★★★★★ — Had to make a delivery here and my first thought going to the fourth floor in the lift/Elevator is ... This elevator is fast😸 And the lady was nice too
Frankipani★★★★★ — View from the 8th floor is lovely. As usual Eko Hotel signature takes Eko Hotel up a notch slightly. More modern than the typical original Eko Hotel rooms but same Eko Hotel service. Not exactly perfect but alway striving to please and finding ways to make things better.
