I had a clear vision—a beautiful bouquet-style cake in my daughter’s favorite colors: black and purple and yellow. She was so excited. But what we received wasn’t just far from what we ordered, it was a complete disaster. The cake came so late we couldn’t even take it to her school, and when we opened the box, my heart dropped. The colors were all wrong, the design was not what I asked for, and the cake itself was dry, crumbly, and tasteless. For the amount I paid—over a hundred thousand naira—I expected better. I deserved better.
But the most painful part wasn’t even the ruined cake. It was the way the baker spoke to me when I respectfully tried to express my disappointment. Instead of empathy, she lashed out with cruel, malicious words. She even went as far as insulting my daughter, saying her favorite colors were “evil.” What kind of professional says that to a mother? To anyone?
This wasn’t just bad service. It was emotional. It was heartbreaking. My daughter’s joy was dimmed because someone chose to be careless, unkind, and unapologetic.
Please think twice before placing your trust and your money in the hands of someone who does not value their customers or respect their work.
