How to choose safely

What to check before choosing asian fusion restaurants in Abuja

Rankings are a starting point. For this category, these are the checks that most often separate a useful recommendation from a risky one.

  • Check recency

Restaurants change fast. Recent reviews and photos matter more than old popularity signals.

  • Match the occasion

Confirm ambience, parking, reservation rules, family-friendliness, and menu availability before going.

  • Watch consistency

Repeated comments about service speed, cleanliness, portions, and pricing are more useful than one viral review.

    • Temitope A. ★★★★★ I see why they call this place the OG . My experience was a 10/10 primaryly because of the family / kid friendliness. It was pretty easy to locate via Google Maps and we enjoyed every bit of our visit . I had brunch with my family and the ambience was nice , staff were courteous , it was truly money well spent . my kids had a swel time while my husband and I were eating . They kids play area is definitely an attraction and kept the kids entertained the whole time we were there . We had rice , taco’s, fruit juice and a strawberry milk shake . Total money spent was around 60,000 naira approximately. They definitely lived up to their hype and I’d definitely visit again .

Peter attended to us, he was very polite and helpful with suggestions. We actually went for cocktails and mocktails but he ended up convincing us to have a little something by the side. We went for Calamari strips, truffle fries and Tar Tar special chicken - I enjoyed every bit of the calamari strips, it was seasoned well. - The truffle fries could’ve been better (the sauce could be separate next time) -I wasn’t impressed by the special chicken (there was nothing special about it). Some of the chicken parts we were given had us wondering if it was bone we ordered. I think sticking to particular chicken parts would be better. The cocktails and mocktail were a 10!!

    • ana D. ★★★★★ It was a beautiful experience. I enjoyed everything I had and the service was excellent.
    • Collins C. ★★★★★ I recently visited Woks & Koi Chinese Restaurant in Abuja, and it was a truly satisfying dining experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance felt warm, elegant, and inviting — perfect for both casual dining and a relaxed evening out. I ordered the Chinese Shrimp Fried Rice paired with Prawn Chilli Sauce, and the combination was simply delightful. The fried rice was flavorful, well-seasoned, and not oily — each grain had that perfect wok aroma that only real Chinese kitchens can achieve. The prawn chilli sauce was rich, spicy, and packed with fresh prawns cooked to perfection — tender on the inside with just the right kick of heat. To complement the meal, I had a bottle of Four Cousins Red Wine, which balanced the spicy flavors beautifully and added a nice touch of smoothness to the whole experience. The staff were courteous and attentive without being intrusive, and the service time was just right. Prices were fair considering the quality and portion sizes, and the restaurant maintained a clean, classy environment throughout. Overall, Woks & Koi delivers a great blend of authentic Chinese taste and fine dining comfort. Highly recommended for anyone in Abuja craving a well-prepared Asian meal in a cozy, upscale setting. 🍛 Meal: Chinese Shrimp Fried Rice + Prawn Chilli Sauce 🍷 Drink: Four Cousins Red Wine 📍 Location: Woks & Koi Chinese Restaurant, Abuja 💬 Verdict: 5/5 — Excellent food, perfect pairing, and top-notch service.

    • FSL ★★★★ Gusto is proof that sometimes you really do have to give places a second chance. My first visit was on a bustling Saturday night in the outdoor space, and I left pretty underwhelmed. The only thing I distinctly remember enjoying was the music. Fast forward a few years later, a Monday afternoon lunch date with a girlfriend, after our first and second choices were both closed, and Gusto ended up being the closest option. I’m so glad I didn’t immediately shut it down. The indoor ambiance felt upscale and spacious, much more refined than my first experience. That said, coming in from the hot outdoors, it could definitely have been a lot cooler inside. The service was attentive and pleasant, and the food was actually quite tasty this time around, though the portions were on the smaller side. Overall, a much better experience than my first visit and a reminder that timing (and seating choice) can really shape your impression of a place.

    • Natalie K. ★★★★ We visited Four Guys in Abuja after receiving several recommendations and went specifically for their Chinese menu during our short five-day stay in the city. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef, but both dishes were completely inedible. The food was overwhelmingly and unpleasantly sweet, drenched in what tasted like nothing more than sugar, food colouring, and cornstarch. The Kung Pao Chicken did not resemble Kung Pao in any way, and the Mongolian Beef was deep-fried and then coated in the exact same overly sweet sauce. Neither dish reflected Chinese cuisine, and both plates had to be left untouched because they were simply impossible to eat. The flavors were so distinctly different from what we expected that we even remarked that the food tasted Filipino - and to our surprise, when we asked to speak with the manager, he informed us that the chef is indeed Filipino. This explained the flavour profile, but it also highlighted how misleading the menu descriptions are for anyone expecting authentic Chinese food (or even anything remotely close to it). Despite the poor food experience, the manager handled the situation exceptionally well. He listened carefully to our feedback, apologized sincerely, and offered us complimentary desserts. The tiramisu and chocolate brownie he provided were genuinely excellent and far better than the meal itself. In summary: • Chinese menu: Not authentic and inedible. • Food quality: Overly sweet, incorrectly prepared, and inaccurately labeled. • Service: Excellent; the manager was professional and accommodating. • Desserts: Outstanding. I would strongly advise against visiting Four Guys for Chinese cuisine, as the dishes are not representative of Chinese cooking and were unfortunately not edible. However, the service and desserts were commendable.
    • Amina Y. ★★★★ Atmosphere is lovely and we had an exceptional waitress called Benedicta. She was so helpful and eager to assist with everything. This is my best place for sushi. Been multiple times but didn't realise I never left a review. Service is always topnotch but I must say the food portion could be bigger especially for the prices. Other than that, I definitely recommend.

    • Samuel O. ★★★★★ Ambience was great, you can choose to stay indoors (which we did) or outside (this seemed to have a better vibe in the evening once it’s cooler). Food was surprisingly good! I’m a bit biased to Japanese cuisines but the tacos (seafood) was really great, not oily or too creamy, they are also open to adjusting the recipe if you wish (my friend didn’t want the mayo). We also then had the Chicken salad with peanut sauce and that was the highlight for me! I kept trying to figure out what the sauce was made from so I can recreate it 😂 (it was that good). It’s at a higher price point than most places in Abuja (maybe 50K+ per person) but it was worth it! The only wrong choice I made was the Matcha Mocktail, but that’s on me, should have run away when I saw Matcha.
    • Collins C. ★★★★ I had a very disappointing experience at Marks At The Park today. Before sitting down, nobody informed us that there was a minimum spend of ₦80,000 per person. We ordered drinks, only for the waiter to come back and tell us that we were “supposed to order food” because our drinks didn’t reach the minimum spend. This is unprofessional and misleading. If there is a compulsory ₦80,000 minimum spend for each person at a table, customers should be clearly informed before they sit down or place an order. Springing such information on guests after orders have already been made is unacceptable. The whole situation felt like a trap, and the staff didn’t handle it well at all. I honestly cannot recommend this place based on today’s experience.

    • Anthony F. ★★★★★ Nice and courteous staff but housekeeping is very poor. I couldn't stay another night and had to check out to another hotel. Wouldn't have stayed there if I didn't arrive late and tired.
    • Emma ★★★★ I want to be very honest. We were genuinely looking forward to visiting this place as our first restaurant of 2026. The ambiance is wonderful, and I can easily believe it must have been a very good restaurant five years ago, based on the positive reviews we had read. The setting is attractive—with a cool rooftop, pleasant open‑air space, and private rooms that seem perfect for fine dining with friends and loved ones. Unfortunately, the dining experience was deeply disappointing. We waited more than one hour for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was terrible. The tom yam kung was just a thin, spicy tomato soup with generic frozen seafood. The so‑called Japanese cucumber salad had absolutely nothing Japanese about it—it should honestly be called Abuja cucumber salad. The satay, which should come with peanut sauce, was served with mayonnaise and ketchup. The “teriyaki beef” bore no relation to teriyaki in either flavor or preparation. The sushi was, regrettably, the worst of all—it tasted like a cheap paint. When my friend asked the waitress what the restaurant’s specialty was, the answer was: “Everything.” That alone explained the problem. A restaurant that does everything well is rare; a restaurant that specializes in nothing usually does nothing well. I would like to offer some constructive advice. Please focus on what you are genuinely good at. If you can prepare excellent Nigerian food—pepper soup, simple grilled dishes, or even just well‑made french fries—serve them with ice‑cold beer and drink. You already have a great atmosphere, and with skilled DJ you can hire, this place could easily be packed every weekend as a bar or lounge. However, expanding the menu to include exotic international cuisines comes with responsibility—the responsibility to do them properly. At this moment, that responsibility is not being met at all. Given the prices charged, we expected a well‑prepared, satisfying meal. What we experienced was interesting, but far from acceptable. We will not be returning, nor will we recommend this restaurant to our friends. One final piece of advice to future guests: do not order the sushi.

    • Charity E. ★★★★★ Gatsby Restaurant offers an excellent dining experience. The food is delicious, the cooking is well done, and the customer service is very friendly and professional. The prices are fair and match the quality of the food perfectly. I would rate it 100/100. It’s a great place for dinner dates, brunch with friends, and any kind of outing. I highly recommend it.
    • FSL ★★★★★ The Gatsby left me feeling very underwhelmed, and I think the core issue is really one of branding. It had been recommended to me as an intimate, romantic spot with great food, but my experience didn’t align with that at all. What felt “intimate” was mostly just that the space was nearly empty, and a few dim lights alone don’t create romance. The menu was handwritten on a board rather than in a proper menu, the drink selection was quite limited, and the food itself was very mid. Honestly, my entire experience of the place was mid. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but it feels like Gatsby is trying to position itself as a high-calibre, private dining–style establishment while not really delivering on the actual dining experience. Even the decor felt fairly basic for the upscale vibe it seems to promise. I wouldn’t recommend this as a date-night spot unless you care more about solitude than about food, atmosphere, or overall experience.

    • NAIMA S. ★★★★★ I’d rate my experience a 6/10. The food tasted good overall, but the fish had an unpleasant, almost spoiled taste inside. It needs to be fresher. Service was disappointing. We were a table of seven, yet only one waiter was actually attentive while the others stood around chatting. Management should address this. Also, the gas and smoke level was way too intense. It got into my eyes the entire time. I couldn’t stop tearing up, and my eyes were burning. If you have sensitive eyes, do not wear makeup here. I left with a severe headache that lasted for hours. Nice for videos, but the comfort and service are not worth it.

    • Robert E. ★★★★★ The restaurant is not bad. It's a small restaurant and I like the location on the ground floor of a mall. I like how the interior was decorated. There was parking space. I ate plantain, vegetables and meat. It was okay. You order your food at the counter and they can bring it to your table. I didn't use the restroom, so I can't say what it was like. However, there are a few things they can improve on. 1. The place was designed to be cosy, but the air-conditioning was not on. They had several fans on, but one of them was not circulating at all. The room was warm. It was an evening, so I couldn't help but wonder how hot it would be in the daytime under the same conditions. I suppose there was no public power supply and they were improvising. It's not their fault, that's Nigeria for you. 2. Oh, yes, there was this fly that kept hovering around my food. A strong fan or maybe the AC would have helped. But, to be fair, flies always find a way to get into many restaurants, so it's nothing peculiar. 3. One of the long seats against the wall is bad - one of the legs is broken - so I almost fell while trying to sit. I could have injured myself. I wonder if other customers have been injured like that too. That's an absolute no, no. How could the management leave a chair with a broken leg there? It's terrible! They need to replace that chair ASAP or have the leg fixed Sadly, I didn't take a picture.
