    • Ruby O. ★★★★ Beautiful place to eat on a budget. Meals were really good. I went with a very picky eater and for the person to say their food was good, it hit the right spots. Would definitely be going back.
    • kakam N. ★★★★★ Amala Central is one of a kind eatery in Abuja. Located in a hidden corner in the Central Business Area of Abuja. Independence Ave is an off street which is not usually a thoroughfare. U must've a business in that area to be there or know it. The best description or direction is that it shares fence with Reiz Continental Hotel. The location which is like an upscale Abuja Park has several eateries, a car wash & a car lot. Amala Eatery stands out. It is a small place compared to other Abuja amala joints. But it is way ahead in organization & sound administration. Enough hands everywhere, limited queuing & waiting time, then see varieties of local Nigerian & continental delicacies with assorted proteins. The amala that I bought was so hot that I had to ask for a spoon to eat it, which is quite against convenient wisdom of devouring amala. The food was steaming, fresh & tasty. Though, not too big a place compared to mega amala joints in town, but the place was sparkling clean. Serviettes & toothpicks were in excess & scattered all over the place unlike what obtains in similar establishments. Clean wash hand basins were plenty with furiously runing water & canisters of liquid soap. Enlarged photos of prominent Nigerian traditional rulers were prominently displayed on the walls. The Sultan of Sokoto, Obi of Onistha, Ooni of Ife, Etsu Nupe..... u name them. Reminds one of home now matter where home is to one ! Clean convenience located not too far away. But...but something could be done about saucing their assoeted proteins. Not a Perfect World, but this is definitely a good experience

    • Esther O. ★★★★★ I went with 4 other people to eat. The environment was stuffy and more attention should be given to cleanliness of the whole place. We had to quickly eat our meal and leave. The food was ok I don't know anything about customer service.
    • kakam N. ★★★★ Amala Place is foremost amala restaurant that was established for working & even high class patrons. Located just off Ahmadu Bello Way, next to the imposing ANAN House (a stone throw from Next Cash & Carry in Kado). The place is classy & clean. It also has it's own fenced in, interlocked parking space & a clean convenience with running water. There're usually varieties of delicacies with enticing proteins available & on display. However, the speciality here has been & remains amala with ewedu and gbegiri. The pounded yam (with efo riro, egusi, okro) & varieties of rice, yam porridge etc are equally tasty. They also sell fresh agidi with sauce, traditionally wrapped with green leaves. Rush hour patronage is testimony to the delicious food served here. Apart from diners, u will also contend with drivers & aides on the queue with coolers to purchase takeaway for their bosses. It's a perfect location for a family lunch outing on a budget. The food is not only delicious but also reasonable priced & affordable, though depending on what's on ur menu. Always a good dining experience

    • Nafiu G. ★★★★ The restaurant's first attraction is its cleanliness, which is very serene. Their foods are also good and tasty. I spent no more than 20 minutes in the queue in a very orderly manner. I will surely revisit the place next time I am in Abuja.
    • Emmanuel E. ★★★★ Matosh Iya Oyo Amala Kitchen in Wuye, Abuja, stands out as one of the city’s most iconic and beloved spots for authentic local Nigerian cuisine, especially the ever-popular Amala. Locals and visitors alike often describe this place as a must-visit culinary experience when in the nation’s capital. From the moment you approach the restaurant, you immediately notice its unique character: long queues of eager customers of all walks of life, from students to civil servants to business executives, all united by their love for the dish. This vibrant scene speaks volumes about the appeal of Iya Oyo’s offerings — it’s not just food, it’s a cultural experience rooted in tradition. The Amala here is renowned for its authentic texture and taste, often served hot and paired with richly flavored soups like gbegiri (bean soup) and ewedu (jute leaf soup), with assorted proteins that complement the main dish perfectly. Many patrons highlight how the meals capture the true essence of home-style cooking — hearty, satisfying, and deeply familiar. The kitchen’s location in Wuye makes it an accessible stop for both residents and visitors. Despite its popularity, service remains straightforward — counter service with a cash-only payment system — and while this simplicity may seem old-school, it’s part of what keeps the experience genuine and grounded. One notable aspect is the communal atmosphere: waiting your turn in line becomes part of the ritual, with the buzz of conversation and anticipation enhancing the overall dining experience. Prices are generally affordable, and the generous portions ensure good value for money. In summary, Matosh Iya Oyo Amala Kitchen offers an unforgettable taste of Nigerian culinary heritage. Its popularity is well-deserved, and it remains a defining spot for lovers of traditional cuisine in Abuja — an experience that is worth every moment of the wait. Overall Rating: Highly Recommended — for authentic local flavor, cultural experience, and great value.

    • ENYINNAYA O. ★★★★★ I have eaten at this place a number of times. There foods is good, not cheap but fair. They have good variety and they are a bit structured but not very organized. The ladies are usually not as focused as should be. The cashier is mostly handling a lot of others and doesn't always give receipts. They have become a bit complacent with basic things that they handled well before . They have a good space and accommodate quite a number of people. They will get better if they focus on customer experience rather than number of sales

    • Kingsley O. ★★★★ I love how they have a local touch to their cuisines in the restaurant. Among other food items on the menu, their rice at Amala 360° was quite tasty. 👌
    • Victor U. ★★★★ if there was a further rating lower than 1 star 🌟 I will definitely give them a negative figure. I had the poorest experience today for lunch at Amala 360. requested for Amala, and she conclusively decided she would give me ewedu and gbegiri without even asking me🫢. Furthermore as if that was not insulting enough she finished serving and put the whole food (Amala, ewedu & gbegiri) inside the microwave. Who does that?, telling me that it's cold....,very disappointed 😞 The plate they used in serving me the food was too small in comparison to the portion I ordered so the food was spilling out. From the look of things I now see reasons why the restaurant was very empty....because I am probably not the first who must have experienced this... I hope the management do take note and make changes or it will be another sad story of another restaurant with a potential that couldn't keep up with expectations.

    • Oyinkansola ★★★★★ First of all I order amala, not amala with a side of staff spit. They were talking right above the open pots of food. The person serving me couldn’t count and I had to keep repeating the order. It took almost 15 mins and 2 people to calculate the bill; with me having to clarify over and over. In the 30 minutes I used to drive home, the soup was sour. Don’t believe the videos you see on social media, it’s not worth it🤦‍♀️
