    • Polukrovka M. ★★★★ I arrived at this General Hospital today at exactly 9:49 AM (Nigerian time) and I was honestly shocked at the experience. There were no medical personnel on ground to attend to patients. People were waiting, looking confused and frustrated, and there was no form of communication or direction from anyone. For a government hospital, this is not encouraging at all. Healthcare is something many Nigerians struggle to access already, and when we finally make it to a hospital, we expect at least a basic level of presence and attention. You cannot keep patients waiting like this, especially those who may urgently need medical care. I believe hospitals are supposed to be places of hope and quick response, not long waiting and uncertainty. The management really needs to look into staffing, punctuality, and proper patient communication. Even if there is a delay or shift issue, patients should not be left unattended without explanation. We deserve a healthcare system that takes people seriously. I hope things improve, because experiences like this can discourage people from seeking help when they truly need it. Another experience I arrived at this General Hospital on 31 October at 9:49 AM (Nigerian time) and there was no medical staff on site to attend to patients. After waiting, I was told to pay ₦2,000 for a card at the payment desk. However, the receipt issued that morning showed ₦1,700. The staff member on duty at the payment desk (wearing a blue dress that morning, dark and tall. I know the consequences of saying this but it has to find a way to stop) processed the payment. This inconsistency is unacceptable and makes patients lose trust. A hospital must be transparent about charges and available to patients when needed. I request management investigate this payment discrepancy, ensure receipts match charges, and improve staff presence and communication. Please take this seriously — patients’ health depends on it. Another experience I also want to mention another very disturbing experience at this hospital. During one of my visits, a senior staff member was openly insulting a nurse in front of patients, using very harsh and offensive language. This kind of behavior in a hospital environment is completely unacceptable. Patients are already stressed and anxious when they come for treatment — hearing staff argue and insult each other loudly creates fear and shows a lack of discipline and professionalism. Healthcare workers should treat each other with respect, especially in front of patients. If there is an issue, it should be handled privately and professionally. Management seriously needs to address staff conduct and ensure a respectful environment. A hospital is supposed to be a place of care, not a place for public humiliation and shouting. I hope the hospital takes this issue seriously and improves staff behavior and discipline. Respect and professionalism are part of good healthcare, not just medicine.
