Review analysis
Serene location away from city bustle with clean swimming pool.
Prisca W★★★★★ — The rooms are spacious and clean. If, like me, you're wary of picking up bedbugs from hotels and this is one of your considerations when choosing where to stay, then the Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar is an excellent option.
The bedding was clean and fresh, the mattress seam, bed frame, headboard and furniture, clean and free from bugs. Yes, I took my time to check🙈
The hotel has visible security and constant electricity. The bathrooms are clean and fresh towels are provided, for guests who use them.
I highly recommend the Metropolitan❤️

Emery★★★★★ — Great spot to hangout and relax with friends and family
There may be a need to revive some fun activities and facilities in the resort
Bukky B.★★★★★ — The Marina Beach has potential but it's poorly maintained and services are very slow. The staff are lackadaisical. The food is okay though.
Ime P.★★★★★ — Checked in on 27th November, 2025. The ground-floor room did not feel unsafe, until it revealed that safety here is an illusion. While I was in the bathroom, the POP ceiling collapsed, metal framing and a live electrical cable falling into the exact space where I was about to shower. Survival came down to timing, not design.
At reception, there was a quiet apology. No report. No manager. No refund. Only a relocation.
The next room leaked steadily, drained poorly, and hosted drain flies, water pooling at my feet like a stalled tide. After another complaint, I was moved upstairs, an exercise in displacement rather than resolution.
For a hotel described as recently renovated, the failures feel structural, not accidental. That night I slept fully clothed, lights on, listening to the ceiling as one listens to ice beginning to crack.
Channel View Hotel is not overtly hostile, it is worse than that. It is indifferent.
Staying here is less a booking than a quiet agreement to trust chance over care.
I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to anyone who values basic safety.
El L.★★★★★ — We have been sending guests to channel view hotels and so far we have had no negative feedback
Tausin A.★★★★★ — The Marina is supposed a sort of tourist destination which tells the rich history of Calabar and the slave trade, however upon my 2 visits to the location, I was sorely disappointed. They’re lacking in customer service and proper management, in my opinion.
In my first encounter, I went in the daytime with friends and most of the facilities weren’t open by noon and the staff weren’t particularly helpful or welcoming.
My second time around, I went in the evening and in the middle of my dining experience, a staff member approached me and asked that I stand up from my seat and use another chair as they were packing up those plastic seats.
Raphael C.★★★★★ — Great and amazing. Off course I visited there a couple of days for a picnic outing
Oja E.★★★★★ — The mountain and landscape are beautiful. Nice and quiet. But the management and maintenance service is quite terrible. The amenities in the rooms aren't working. For it being cold in the mountains none of the heaters work. Unless the resort is booked out fully. Tvs didnt even have power cables. For the price you pay for 1 night, its definitely unacceptable. We had to cut out 3day 2 night trip short and only spent 1 night. We didnt even bother to do any of the excursions in fear thet they may not be up running correctly.
Gee★★★★★ — Been wanting to go for over 25 years now and finally went. If you looking for 5 star treatment, this isn't probably the best place to go. But it's one of the most beautiful places you'll ever go to. The people are lovely, scenery is 30/10. The rooms are dated but have that feel of roughing it. You don't get the room service and all that but it more than makes up for it with other things. Take everything you feel you need including alternate lighting and power banks and food. The food there is very basic and you probably won't enjoy it so make your plans around there. It was a beautiful experience and if don't mind doing without a lot of what you've been used to then you'll love this place like i did
Tunde I.★★★★★ — Staff were not too efficient. The rooms were not too clean. Parking space is limited. The place is small though located in an easily accessible place.
ahbitan Y.★★★★★ — An average space. They have a mini pool that could serve in hot weather. The staff are not proper trained staff, you could be disgusted by some of them. Just be patient and check out with no drama.
Ms O.★★★★★ — I had come 2 years ago. The food was good. They had an elevator too so I thought staying here was a good idea. It wasn't.
Will A.★★★★★ — Great stay at De Grand Hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff, and quite a lively atmosphere at the bar / pool area. Can be a little noisy so bring earplugs if you want to go to bed early.
Bukky B.★★★★★ — Tinapa has great potential but it's currently not functional and there's evidence of vandalization.
It's a beautiful place with lush greenery and different sections of activities.
It would be nice if the government can bring it back to life.
Tamuno★★★★★ — Although I'd like to visit, but I don't understand why it keeps popping up for a review when I've not visited there before.
