How to choose safely

What to check before choosing art schools in Abuja

Rankings are a starting point. For this category, these are the checks that most often separate a useful recommendation from a risky one.

  • Check accreditation

Confirm approvals, curriculum, exam track record, and whether the school’s claims are documented.

  • Visit if possible

Fees, transport, class size, security, and facilities are best verified in person or by a trusted parent.

  • Compare outcomes

Prioritise consistent parent/student feedback over isolated marketing claims or old reviews.

    • Agata W. ★★★★★ I'd like to separate the experience of art from the experience of a gallery. I'll start with the paintings. Nigeria has long been the realm of great artists. Since the 1950s, they've been gaining well-deserved recognition. Contemporary artists also have their own way of finding their place in the art world. I could spend hours in the gallery, looking at each painting individually. Rotimi Akinnire's painting "Forest" was mesmerizing—after a moment, I felt as if I'd been summoned to a forest. Many other paintings also captured my attention. The dark side was the institution. When I bought tickets for myself and my companion—the driver, for whom it was his first visit to an art gallery; he, too, could never visit it on his own because admission is quite expensive—I asked for tickets, but they didn't have them. I paid, but I couldn't get a receipt. Then, one of the staff members assisted us during the tour, reminding us several times that I could buy a painting. Finally, after the third time, I asked her to let us admire the beautiful paintings and leave us alone. This gallery combines two functions: exhibition and sales. If it's a commercial gallery focused on selling art, it shouldn't charge admission. If it's presenting art, it shouldn't be a pushy saler. Furthermore, if you want to take a photo of painting in this gallery, you can only do it in the form of a portrait of yourself in front of a painting. How strange.
    • Gold E. ★★★★★ Visited here quite a number of times, also was once invited for an exhibition and I must say it’s quite a delightful experience, at all my visits I was advised not to take a direct photo of the arts but can take pics with them, there’s restaurant next door as well … I quite appreciate that entry is free…

    • Akande P. ★★★★★ I really enjoyed all the teachings at the fashion academy! The tutors were amazing , patient, talented, and passionate about what they do. The environment was lovely and very conducive for learning. I also loved that the facilities (or should I say working tools 😄) like mannequins, industrial sewing machines, irons, and pattern tools were all available and in great condition. It was a great experience overall! 💕✨

    • Udama J. ★★★★★ I must say Chef's Academy is the best Culinary school you confidently enrolled in and be rest assured that you will come out better, good and excited 😊 Before I started this Culinary journey, I thought cooking was all about entering the kitchen and start cooking but know it's not all about that. It's consist of the terminology, technique, portion control, plating, food safety presentation and more. And I must say I have learnt a lot and become better than I was before enrolling at Chef's Academy. I have learnt a whole lot from Chef's Academy and I'm so so happy I was part of batch M. Their discipline is what I love the most, their not just all about your money but they also take it upon themselves to make sure you don't just leave the way you came rather you must learn something from there. I Confidently recommend CHEF'S ACADEMY yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever. Thanks so much to the Founder of Chef's Academy for always advising us to do better you're a role model. And to all the Chef's you guys did a great job 👍 thanks for being patient with us, for answering same questions over and over again and for not giving up on us. I really appreciate you all.
    • Febechii J. ★★★★ My experience at Chefs Academy has been worthwhile, tasking and overall enjoyable. I got to learn and unlearn a whole lot of things. I remember the first day I stepped into class and the first thing I heard was that, you had to use different chopping boards for vegetables, meat and diary😂😂😂.. that was when I knew that culinary school was a big deal

    • Dominique E ★★★★★ We came here twice and it was the best place we went to get souvenirs. There were many little shops some just resold the same trinkets while some shops were unique. I ended up getting a beautiful bag, a back pack, some nice bracelets and my family got some clothes too. The shop owners were nice and didn't force your attention too much like at the bigger market. It was good business and not too difficult to hagle for a good deal. Beautiful place!
    • Annette A. ★★★★★ It's a decent place, but I feel like the building has a lot of potential of being a tourist attraction, most of the amenities are old and outdated but they do a good job of cleaning the place. However, if the authorities can renovate the building, it'll be so much nicer

    • Ruki E. ★★★★★ A great place for kids to explore and learn. They offer guided pottery sessions, canvas painting, T-shirt/pillow/hat printing. There is also a small outdoor play area. NOTE: -You need to book ahead of time -Bring your own food/snacks (kids were offered popcorn, cotton candy, juice and water for a fee) -the restrooms weren’t clean. - no parking space inside the facility (roadside parking) With all this in mind, and with proper planning, your kids would have a great time here.
    • Elameyi O. ★★★★★ Lovely place, great ambiance, great for kids party, art, painting etc easy to locate.

    • Awashima U. ★★★★★ There is not much art or craft happening here, it's more popularly known and used as an NYSC secretariat. Most of the shops there are rented by digital printing offices. There is an art gallery where you can find some art and craft works to buy but they are expensive. There is parking space.q
