    • haruna S. ★★★★ Murtala Muhammed Square in Kaduna, formerly the Kaduna Race Course, is a premier, centrally located 3.4-mile recreational and sporting complex in Nigeria. Remodeled in 2019 under the Urban Renewal Programme, this landmark features modern facilities like a 5-a-side pitch, swimming pools, a gym, and a conference hall, making it a hub for fitness, events, and cultural activities.
    • kakam N. ★★★★ Murtala Square Square is a magnificent sports complex located in Kaduna, Nigeria. It was completed in 1950 & renamed in honour of the late military Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Muhammed. Located right in the city centre, close to Lugard Hall & Hamdala Hotel etc. The gentrification of the Murtala Muhammad Square is evident of the urban renewal efforts of the previous civilianadministration in Kaduna State. Specifically, it economically revitalised the Square from the blight of governmental neglect through massive public investments/upgrade in order to stimulate private development. The Square is cavernous with multiple pitches & courts for each sport & unsurprisingly serves as a major venue for various sporting events, like football matches & polo competitions. It is evidently now a hub for Kaduna residents, fitness enthusiasts, outdoors men/women & local athletics. The Square has hosted numerous national and international competitions over the years, bringing together sports professionals from various regions. It's facilities include various seating stands for thousands of spectators, numerous training areas & modern amenities for athletes. It is also the venue of the Kaduna Polo Club ground, Kaduna State Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture, Umaru Musa Yaradua Indoor Sport Hall among many others. International, national and local celebrations have been taken place in the Square since it's inception. Annual & occasional celebrations like the Kaduna Grand Durbar, Kaduna Centenary Celebrations, Nigeria's Independence Day, May Day, Inauguration Ceremonies of Governors, Army Day, Human Rights Day etc. The stadium also plays a significant role in community events & cultural celebrations. It is no doubt a key landmark in the town/area. Its diverse range of sports, recreation, and event facilities make the massive facility a vibrant community hub in Kaduna. The facilities & amenities include a main bowl for soccer, with seating for thousands of spectators, multiple football pitches including options for 5-a-side and 7-a-side games, basketball courts, hockey pitches, lawn tennis courts & a horse riding track (& host to the Kaduna Polo Club). There are swimming pools including an Olympic standard pool as well as a sand running/walking track which is great for walks or casual exercises. For community events, there is a multiple event halls & an event center for seminars, fairs, & cultural celebrations a large open recreational spaces for relaxation, walking & social gatherings. There is also a renowned suya spot & various food vendors.Furthermore, multiple other vendors are present selling diverse but relevant items including affordable sports workout wears. Numerous restaurants are located here as well, offering local & international delights. The Square is not just for sports as it equally serves as a vibrant location for seminars, fun fairs, street fairs, and community celebrations. It’s a venue where locals and visitors can connect, relax, and enjoy a variety of activities including horse riding, swimming, basketball, polo, & much more. The suya spot is famous for serving some of the best suya (grilled meat skewers) in the area, adding a culinary highlight to the experience. I also observed that there is a hotel inside the Square, which is a good innovation. In fact, Murtala Square could be considered a “must-visit” for anyone in Kaduna, offering a lively atmosphere for sports, recreation, and memorable cultural experiences. However, there is need for a comprehensive plan for maintaining the grounds to be put in place. I noticed that some of the buildings & facilities are getting damaged. Furthermore, the green areas are not being well maintained & cleaned. Weeds & overgrown grasses abound in many places. One wonders how this special place will look like it it the green areas have clean & well maintained lawns. Overall, my assessment is that the Square is without doubt a spectacular edifice or masterpiece in Kaduna. One cannot but love the place

    • Habibu F. ★★★★★ Its a cool place to be at night
    • Mr. G. ★★★★ This is also another good basket ball pitch where a lot of individuals and groups come to just practice. It is sometimes coordinated while most times, people just come to sharpen their individual skills. It has three parallel posts which means you cannot play a standard game here as there isn't any adjacent post. It is a good place yo try out your hands and sharpen your skills.
