Put any two Nigerian businesses side by side

Every ranked business on Ranked now has a “Compare with…” control, and every pair it produces is a page of its own. Two hotels in Lagos, two hospitals in Abuja, two restaurants in Port Harcourt: same category, same city, one screen, no scrolling between tabs to work out which one you mean.

Why this did not exist

Choosing between two businesses is the most common decision people make on a directory, and no Nigerian directory had a page for it. The reason is simple: a fair comparison needs a score that was computed the same way for both sides, and most listings sites do not have one. Ranked does. Every business is scored on the same six published dimensions, on weights anyone can read, and no business can pay to change its rank. That is the only foundation a head-to-head can stand on.

What a head-to-head page shows

• The verdict as a tally, not an opinion. The page counts the dimensions on which one business is clearly ahead and says so in words: “leads on four of six”, or “about even”. A lead only counts above a stated gap, so a hair’s breadth is never dressed up as a win.
• Six dimensions, side by side. Google rating, review volume, review recency, profile completeness, review sentiment and verification, each with the leader named in words. The question stops being “which is better” and becomes “better at what”.
• Differences first. Distance apart, price level, Sunday hours, verification and review counts lead the page. Everything the two have in common is folded away under one line, and a fact one side has not listed is shown as exactly that, never as a loss.
• Reviews under one rule. The most recent Google reviews for each side, chosen by the same rule and printed on the page, attributed and dated. Nobody cherry-picks.
• Straight answers. Which is open on Sunday, which is verified, which has more reviews, how far apart they are: one line each, from the facts on both profiles.
• Built for WhatsApp. Every pair has its own share card with both names, the city and the tally, so the link you send to the family group looks like a comparison, not a logo.

What it will never do

It will not tell you which one to pick. A listing on Ranked is a record of a business, not a recommendation of one, and a comparison is two records placed next to each other under the same light. Both columns carry identical actions, both owners get the same quiet link to correct their facts, and Google’s numbers stay labelled as Google’s. Paid placement is not one of the six dimensions and it never will be.
