ISLAMIYYAH N.★★★★★ — Abeokuta was an extremely unpleasant experience. The people I encountered were rude, mean-spirited, inconsiderate, and completely unwelcoming. Basic courtesy seemed nonexistent, and interacting with people felt like a chore rather than a normal human exchange.
The only redeeming parts of this trip were Olumo Rock, OOPL, and Providence Hotel. Once you’re done with those, there is absolutely nothing else worth enduring.
The drivers deserve a special mention for being some of the worst I’ve ever encountered; lazy, unprofessional, aggressive, and outright ridiculous. Getting around the city was stressful and unnecessarily chaotic because of them.
Overall, Abeokuta was a huge disappointment. I will not be returning, and I will absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. Outside of a few tourist spots, it was a horrible experience and a waste of time.

This church is the first church, not only in Egbaland, but in the whole if Nigeria. Although it has undergone renovations in the past but this dies not, in any way diminish it's historical significance. It is located at Ake, in Abeokuta not too far from the palace of the Alake if Egbaland.

I feel I should write about this as we were mis-directed by Google to another St Jude's Anglican Church not very far from this place (I don't know the area), when I didn't include Shokenu (we only included Oke-Ijeun). So when searching it may be good to state Shokenu Street in your search to be directed here. I don't know who this might help

However, the access road to the location is in a terribly bad state and this should be made an administrative priority for the government of the day as the entire road stretch could serve as a tourist attraction. The church has a rich history and an admirable structure carved out of stones.
